Mission Statement
Hawk River represents the essence of Haliburton charm and wholeheartedness while providing services and quality expected in a more demanding and often less friendly environment: and we do it with a sense of good nature and pleasantry.
Our goals are threefold. First a foremost we identify with the needs of our clients acting not only as providers of services but as trusted advisors. We know our business as practioners of site preparation and the government regulation which will impact your recreational property.
Second, our commitment to the Haliburton County is to provide full time and seasonal employment in one of the poorest economies in Canada. We recognize that our strength as a community rests in meaningful and fair employment for as many Haliburtonians as possible.
Finally, we focus, through our employees, on providing a job that is executed superbly, on time and at a price which is fair to both you as our valued Client and Hawk River as a professional company that you can rely on.
About Us
Hawk River was founded more than 35 years ago and has been providing all aspects of site preparation services including, road building, septic system installation, excavation services, landscape architectural design and landscaping expertise, lumbering and snow plowing during those months when our County population drops from 65,000 to 25,000. Larry Hewitt has worked on more than 20,000 projects over these years and is now doing work for the children of his first clients in the 70’s and 80’s. As a trusted advisor he is sought out for advice on all facets of the sites that most recreational properties are located on.
With access to more than 120 pieces of site equipment, raw materials in the form of sand, gravel and crushed stone from one of 6 different quarries throughout the County, we are able to provide services to support all sizes and complexities of project through 50+ employees throughout the year.
As the only full service site preparation company in the County, Hawk River focuses on keeping all aspects of planning, design, execution and ongoing support as much as possible within the County. In this way, we ensure that monies spent on projects in the County stay within the County. This philosophy allows us to show our commitment not only to the Haliburton community, but also to its employees, who hard work, professionalism and expertise are second to none in the Country. This is our promise to our employees and indirectly this reflects in the services which they provide to you as a valued Client.
We also focus on our Partners who work with us on virtually any project we undertake. These include General Contractors, Masons, Electricians, Plumbers and Framers. We work with these folks on an ongoing basis and because we are often the first (site prep) and last (landscaping) ones on your site, provide a level of continuity which is often only second to you, the home Owner. We take this role very seriously as you often look to us for guidance and advice on many aspects of overall project management.
We are active in the Community not only as a senior and respected company in the Haliburton business community, but also through our employees who participate as leaders and participants within many sporting, cultural, education and community activities. If you want to experience a truly unique project, call us, email us or send us a request for services directly from this website. Larry Hewitt and all of our Hawk River employees look forward to working with you on creating and developing your recreational property.
